About My Work
Academic in nature, my essays are where I will attempt to add to the conversation already surrounding the text, or try and start one. The books and topics are of my choosing, and many take a feminist lense. Again, suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
SPOILER ALERT: These essays are written under the assumption the readers have already read the books. It is very likely that I will discuss the death of a major character at some point in the writing (if they die, of course).
About Me
My name is Melinda Valencia. I am a rising sophmore at university and I have loved books for as long as I can remember. In high school I was "that kid" in English class. I was teacher's pet because I sat there getting excited about what we were reading with the teachers. (I actually did the readings.) My favorite book is The Awakening by Kate Chopin, because I associate it most greatly with my own literary awakening. It was the first time I really understood what my teachers meant by "read between the lines." It also brought out a very feminist side of myself that I did not realize was there.
